confused

I am so confused as to how this stuff works. Do I change my template everytime I want to blog? I keep finding myself doing the same thing over and over again. I guess since im at this point Im ok for a bit. Im starving so im going to eat. If anyone can help.. itd be great! also how do i add friends???
